Painting makes Paula feel free and enables her to escape and dream. Her process allows her to tap into, release and express her emotions, enabling her to understand and communicate how she feels about her observations and experiences. This inner dialogue stimulates an ongoing interaction between her emotions and the paint, which is expressed in her work.

 

Colour is her inspiration. The power of colour, combined with gestural brushstrokes are used to express her emotions. The choice of colour palette is influenced by her mood, with colours layering and infusing together as her work develops.

 

The excitement of a painting coming together is what keeps her engaged and eager to explore. She works abstractly and loves the way the colours merge and surprise.

 

Paula says ....my challenge is to control the paint, so that the colour and mark-making remain fresh and true.
